Cliff Valley provides an optimal educational environment. Our curriculum and culture are differentiated and flexible so as to serve a wide range of learning styles.

Applications for admission to the Preschool Program are reviewed for several admission criteria including parent commitment to progressive education, a match between parent expectations and our educational programs, and timeliness of application. Preschool students are continually assessed to determine an appropriate fit within the Cliff Valley Preschool Program.

In the Elementary Program, Cliff Valley School seeks students of average to high ability who can contribute to and benefit from our progressive educational program. All students applying to the Elementary Program, whether from our Preschool Program or from outside the school community, are screened to assess their readiness for the Elementary Program. Students are selected for admission on the basis of multiple factors, including academic potential, developmental maturity, school achievement, social interactions, family commitment and enrollment status at time of application.

In all cases, the school retains the right to determine, at its sole discretion, whether or not to select a student for admission or to re-enroll a student. The admissions committee makes recommendations to the head of school, who has ultimate authority and sole discretion in the decision whether or not to admit or re-enroll a student. When there are more qualified candidates than openings available, the school establishes an unranked waiting list. If any openings occur, the admissions committee decides which candidate(s) to offer a position based on the overall profile of the class and the match between the needs and qualifications of the student and the needs of the school.
