Cliff Valley School is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for our school to attract new students and continue to grow. Cliff Valley School plans to begin offering scholarships to new students through the Georgia Private School Tax Credit program. We are thrilled to be able to begin offering scholarships through this program. Below you will find information and resources to better explain the tax credit and your options for contributing to a scholarship at Cliff Valley School.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the private school tax credit?
In the summer of 2008, the Georgia legislature passed the Georgia Private School Tax Credit- a program that seeks to filter $50million in tax revenue from the state directly to private schools on a first come first served basis. Cliff Valley School is excited about the law as it has financial benefits for both you and Cliff Valley.
How can the tax credit benefit both Cliff Valley School and me?
Under this law, you are able to redirect a portion of your Georgia state income taxes to provide scholarship assistance to new Cliff Valley students. You will receive a tax credit on your state income taxes and a charitable contribution deduction on your federal income taxes for the amount donated. For married couples filing jointly, the maximum eligible contribution is $2,500, and as an individual, the maximum is $1,000.
How do I participate?
Each school works through an independent Student Scholarship Organization (SSO). Cliff Valley has partnered with the Apogee Georgia School Choice Scholarship Fund, a state approved SSO, to enable the Cliff Valley community to take advantage of this program. By designating Cliff Valley in your donation to the Apogee Georgia School Choice Scholarship Fund, a Georgia state income tax credit is available to you for the tax year the donation is made. Your donation also means you may be allowed a charitable contribution deduction on your Federal tax return.
Can I direct my contribution to my child?
Unfortunately, parents may not direct contributions to a child; Cliff Valley School selects eligible students to receive funds as mandated by the state qualification guidelines.
Who qualifies for the scholarship?
A Georgia resident enrolled in primary public school or eligible to enroll in a qualified kindergarten program or pre-kindergarten program.
How do I donate?
