In the early elementary grades, students gain a strong foundation in language arts and math while exploring topics in science and social studies through engaging activities. In the upper elementary program (grades three through five), they use their proficiency with basic skills to pursue studies through group and independent projects. An interdisciplinary approach allows all elementary students to sharpen their skills in reading, writing, and math by using these skills to study other topics in social studies, science, art, music, literature, the environment, and multicultural studies. Collaborative projects and activities allow students to learn the importance of teamwork, responsibility, and respect for each individual’s ideas while working toward a common goal.

Special instruction is provided in the areas of fine arts, music, foreign language, physical and health education, environmental education, and technology. Our comprehensive curriculum prepares our students for their transition into any public or private secondary school. Our elementary school is built on the idea of developmentally appropriate education, which has been a Cliff Valley hallmark for four decades. At each grade level, curriculum and instruction are differentiated to meet students’ needs.
