The three-year-olds in our three-day program are becoming increasingly independent and interested in each other and cooperative play.  They are ready to be part of a larger community and enjoy the part of the morning when all the doors in The Commons are opened and they can visit other classrooms or play in the large common room.  Threes are imaginative storytellers and they are proud to have their words and stories written and read to the class over and over again.  We provide a language- and print-rich environment in which writing and print become meaningful to children and they can begin to learn the connections between written and spoken language.

In three classes of 12-14 children, our threes and their two co-teachers explore the possibilities of clay, paint and other art materials, use blocks of many types to construct buildings and cities, engage in imaginative play by dressing up and trying out new roles, plant and care for growing things in the garden, begin learning to use language to negotiate conflicts, to express their feelings and to share experiences.  Children in our three-day program visit our music cottage once each week and play outdoors for at least 30-45 minutes each day.
